Full description
This model is composed of 2 types of foam which behave differently in relation to ultrasounds.
At the beginning, the ocean floor profile cannot be seen by the student; so, the practical work scenario involves reconstituting it.
The profile represented simulates the theoretic structure of an ocean floor from the dorsal, via a plateau to an ocean trench (subduction zone).
By analogy, the ultrasound sensor + model assembly enables students to understand how the seismic reflexion profiles are constructed, with the seisimic
waves replaced by ultrasounds.
